In Zwischentönen. Ganz intuitiv. Er sammelt hektisch. Denkt an Mousse, weniger an Muße. After the butcher tragen sie ihre Zutaten hin. Rezeptlos.
Pourparler. Reden im Schwebezustand.
Sie ist Ines Lechleitner und er ist Hans-Jörg Mayer.
Ihre gemeinsame Ausstellung läuft vom 7. März bis 5. April 2020.
Text von Nele Meissner
English translation:
She is someone who ferments fruit and vegetables, photographs and records them on video. He is someone who draws and paints and moulds.
She finds scenery and landscapes. He white canvas and blue beans. She depicts "Body Gestures" and strong women. He a woman-fox creature or statements like "Life is life" or "Everything has to be done by oneself".
She goes to the heart of the matter and captures the rushing river Rhine in a "River Glass". He brings a spinning disco ball to a halt with a brush. She applies "Scales" onto paper-maché. He rabbits on velvet. She explores the "Boundaries Of Music". He tinkers at the edges of art history.
She works site-specifically. He hardly ever does.
And then they meet. And talk. And they decide to do something together. Pourparler.
And while they talk about lemons and onions and plums, something comes between them. It starts to hiss and there it is: the in-between, the inter-personal, and it chirps about in-between spaces. In nuances. And they both become curious.
For her it's as if she's picking out ingredients at the market. There are his next to hers, and she takes them boldly. Intuitively. He collects hectically. And prepares everything with care. To after the butcher they carry their ingredients. Without a recipe.
It remains a game, and on the surface, as they roll the dice, divide everything into cubes and mix it up in the old butcher's shop. The work of the other becomes their own. And parts of it form a new whole. Tensely they lie in wait and observe. They let the ingredients do their job. Without questioning what is going on.
But you can talk about it. Pourparler. Talking in suspense.
She is Ines Lechleitner and he is Hans-Jörg Mayer.
Their joint exhibition runs from 7 March to 5 April 2020.

EN:
Care work is generally regarded as an annoying appendage to human existence: as a feminised low-wage sector in the realm of geriatric care, as a so-called career setback during maternity or paternity leave, or in the past as immoral sex work. Activities that fall into the field of care work are underpaid and disdained—nevertheless, they are something like an interpersonal glue that keeps our society together. In the exhibition TechnoCare the Kunstraum Niederoesterreich investigates the divide between the relevance of care work and its marginalisation. Such a divide provokes the question of how it can be overcome. In this spirit TechnoCare examines the technological and aesthetic mediation attempts of care, which have gained momentum in contemporary artistic practice. Can aesthetic experience cultivate caring conduct? Can artistic works themselves become protagonists of care? And how can care transcend spatial, temporal, or emotional distances—or is it as it seems, characterised mainly by closeness and direct contact? Curated by Katharina Brandl and Friederike Zenker, the exhibition presents artistic works in which the aesthetic, social, and ethical dimensions of care between people or people and animals intersect. The main focus is the technology-based building, cultivating, reviving, and criticising of relationships.

We are used to a fairly conventional aesthetic in nature movies’ sound tracks. Their focus is mainly the realistic representation of the depicted scenes with added generic music to support the drama. However, without the text and with the support of time-laps the animals and plants or even the scientists seem to perform highly aesthetic performances or dances. For our series seven sound artists aim to create a new relation between image and sound in the representation of birds and plants.

Basel Artist Talk and Presentation
Sun 4 Dec 2016. 15.00
Villa Renata
Socinstrasse 16
4051 Basel
We are pleased to announce the upcoming presentation of the new artist edition and perfume Das Rhein Rauschen by Ines Lechleitner. Please join artist Ines Lechleitner and curator Emilie Bruner in conversation about the making of the exhibition and perfume on December 4th 2016 at 3pm in the exhibition at Villa Renata. Ines Lechleitner’s multidisciplinary research on the river Rhine in Basel leads to the creation of her second river perfume Das Rhein Rauschen. The creation of the scent in collaboration with the perfumer Andreas Wilhelm began with the bottle of thought- a collection of words and phrases inspired by the river. It captures the energy of the Rhine, the rushing water, the sound, the brawl, the danger and intoxication, the ever changing colours of the surface, the structure of its making, the collision and the violence of its current.

Within the Symposion »Networking ANIMAL LOVERS«, 4–5 November
Cats are entitled to the pension, chickens have social security and cows have union representation. If all domesticated animals had civil rights they would be able to participate in policymaking and could no longer be eaten. Fellow citizens cannot be eaten.
The exhibition ANIMAL LOVERS proposes that we not see animals as “the other” or as a projection surface for our own desires, preferences or fears, but rather that we see them as individuals with abilities and rights. The exhibited artworks give impetus for a new understanding of the relationship between humans and animals and encourage that we regard animals as our equals. Human-animal relationships are constructed by society and therefore modifiable. The selected works deal critically with existing inequalities; they expose contradictions and clichés in the daily and medialised treatment of animals. The invited artists encounter the animals as individuals and explore the possibility of artistic collaborations. The exhibition shows architecture that allows both humans and animals to find their bearings in the habitat of the other and scenarios in which this is miraculously already the case.

Pirate/Public – positions in contemporary radio art
What’s the difference between a pirate and a privateer? It’s not the act, it’s the authority. Only the privateer – who seems to be acting purely on his own initiative – has the papers authorizing him to do so. The histories of broadcasting and maritime law are closely intertwined, as we can tell from their similar forms of organization. Radio has its public and private branches, and its pirate ones too. But these clear distinctions are no longer valid in today’s radio landscape. Podcasts, web archives and the internet have caused shifts in content types, listening areas, audiences and jurisdictions. So is something being commandeered? If so, how? And most importantly, what?
Pirate/Public invites you to explore these and other questions on four evenings at Errant Bodies Sound Art Space.

Errant Bodies
Kollwitzstrasse 97
10435 Berlin
Acoustics is mostly understood in terms of architectural spaces and materiality external to the body. Yet what of the resonances and echoes that transverse the inner rooms of the body? The inner voices and sounding memories that impart so much influence onto our perceptions and understandings? If acoustics assists in orienting ourselves spatially, the inner soundings are equally complex events by which we navigate the world.
Bringing together international artists focused on the inner voice, vocal resonance, and the poetics of the sounded, the exhibition gives important attention to the voice as an audible threshold between inner and outer.
The Inner Acoustic is the first part in a new program of activities on the topic of voice - The Voice Observatory, organized by Mario Asef, Ernesto Estrella, and Brandon LaBelle. Part of :Transmediale and CTM Vorspiel program 2015
